Fifty drivers confirm for this weekend’s Hill Climb races

Over 50 drivers have confirmed participation in this weekend’s Hill Climb competition in Naivasha. The event is being sponsored by Chloride Exide-sponsored in conjunction with Shell V-Power.
Though drivers from each of the classes will be aiming to set the fastest times up the 3km stretch, the main focus will be on the competitors from the national rallies in the 4WD category. Leading drivers from the Kenya National Rally Championship contenders for the event will include—Baldev Chager, Carl Tundo, Ian Duncan, Onkar Rai, Karan Patel and Tejvir Rai among others. The event will feature seven different classes including bikes, quads, 4WDs, raids, classics, buggies and juniors.
The 3km stretch has been graded to make sure competitors are able to achieve the highest speeds on the uphill stretch. The stretch starts from the bottom of the hill at 1900 metres to the top at 2200m.
Cars will run at two minutes intervals in the competitive heats while motorcycles will run at one minute intervals over the same. The Aberdare Hill Climb is located on 1650 acres on o0ne of the most beautiful and scenic land in the heart of Great Rift Valley, overlooking the iconic Lake Naivasha.
This year’s Hill Climb events, dubbed as ‘The Powerlast Hill Climb’, will be held thrice starting with a two-day event on August 4-5 at the Aberdare Hills Golf Resort.
Subsequent Powerlast Hill Climb events will be held in September and November.
