LAS CRUCES — Family fun, more than 250 show class vehicles and a chance to meet and greet other regional car buffs are expected to lure about 1,500 auto aficionados to the Las Cruces Rodrunners Wheels of Dreams Car Show from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Field of Dreams parking lot, 2501 W. Tashiro Road.
Entrants from throughout the Southwest will vie for class and best of show trophies in several categories, including General Motors cars, Chryslers and Fords, muscle cars, lowriders, motorcycles and pickups in pre- and post-1969 divisions. Awards will also be given in decorative categories such as best paint jobs and best interiors.
Other highlights include an automotive swap meet, food vendors, music, 50/50 drawings and an engine/transmission drawing.
“The swap meet will have anything related to vehicles, from cars to automotive accessories. There’s a $10 fee for each vendor space,” said show coordinator Bob Ogas of Las Cruces Rodrunners, sponsors of the event.
Proceeds benefit area youth organizations, charities and educational programs.
“Last year, we gave about $8,500 to different area groups,” Ogas said.
