Until the expected high-performance versions are launched, the reveal of the 2013 Scion FR-S is the last of the ‘Toyabaru’ lighweight sports coupe trio. Scion has just officially unveiled their rebadged version of the Toyota GT 86. And that’s exactly what it is, with the exception of the Scion name, the cars are identical. For those who don’t already know, the FR-S will be sold in North America while its GT 86 counterpart will be for the European and Japanese markets. The Subaru BRZ will be sold in all markets, although we suspect in more limited numbers. Powered by a new Subaru-developed 2.0-liter boxer engine equipped with Toyota’s D4-S direct injection system, total output will be 197hp and 151lb-ft of torque. Buyers will have a choice between either a six-speed manual or a six-speed automatic with paddle shifters. One new bit of information that was just revealed about all three cars is that they’ll require premium fuel in order to achieve the full horsepower potential.
