Rioting Maasai morans torched a PSV matatu that knocked down a boda boda rider on Emali/Loitokitok road, killing him instantly on Friday.
The irate group set the matatu, said to have been speeding at the time of the accident, ablaze after its driver disappeared - leaving passengers behind.
The vehicle was registered under Naekana Sacco.
The morans - from the nearby Simba Cement factory shopping centre - rushed to the scene and were irked by the site of Geoffrey Sankale body - the accident’s victim - lying on the road.
They waited until the vehicle was completely consumed by the fire before taking the body away.
Police in Mashuuru said they have launched a manhunt for the driver of the vehicle.
Loitokitok OCPD Herbert Khaemba appealed to witnesses of the accident to assist them with information.
He warned Maasai morans against taking the law into their hands, adding that the police would have handled the case efficiently.
