Carjack bid policemen get the boot

Four policemen have been dismissed from service ahead of their appearance in court over violent robbery.

The constables were arrested on Saturday after a failed attempt to hijack a truck at Muthiga, Kiambu County and are being held at Nairobi’s Central police station.

One of them, who was attached to Prime Minister Raila Odinga’s security detail, had been charged with a Sh100,000 robbery while he was stationed at Dandora police station.

Spotted a vehicle

Police sorces said the four had been discharged from the force.

The truck driver said he was travelling to Nakuru from Nairobi when he spotted a vehicle from his company parked beside the road at Muthiga shopping centre.

When he stopped to check if his colleagues had a problem, two men, one in police uniform, emerged from a blue saloon car and forced him and his loader into the vehicle.

The two fought back and the officers threw them out of the car and sped off. The matter was reported to Kabete police station.

Police officers on patrol spotted the vehicle and arrested the occupants.
