Acquisition Of The 3rd Licence Sticker Will Be In 3 Phases - NTSA

In a statement, the Authority urged every Kenyan possessing a new and/or second-hand vehicle to acquire the Third License sticker as per the regulations provided in the Traffic (Registration Plate) Rules.

NTSA General Manager Francis Meja noted that the deadline for drivers to get the Third License Sticker is 1 July 2017.

“In Implementation of The Traffic (Registration Plate) Rules, 2016 (Legal Notice No.62) Gazette on 15 April 2016. The Authority notifies members of the public that with effect from 1 July 2017 all NEW and SECOND-HAND MOTOR VEHICLE REGISTRATIONS will be required to acquire the Third License Sticker,” the statement read in part.

Phase One:

Issuance of the third licence sticker to all New and Second Hand Motor Vehicle Registrations with effect from 1st July, 2017

Phase Two:

Issuance of the third licence sticker to all vehicles that will undergo motor vehicle inspection from January 2018

Phase Three:

Collaborate with the insurance industry to facilitate acquisition of the stickers by the private motorists while they renew their motor vehicle insurances. The date of implementation will be announced in due course.

The sticker will cost Ksh.700 (One off payment).

The process of acquisition of the sticker is part of the registration of motor vehicle process provided under the Transport Integrated Management System (TIMS).
