Matatu operators in Nanyuki held a mock burial procession on Tuesday for Laikipia Woman Rep Cate Waruguru.
They claim that she is behind the influx of Sienta and Probox public service vehicle (PSV) operators at their drop-off points.
The matatu operators further accused Waruguru of an alleged plot to enable the Sientas to carry on with their businesses months after they were banned from the road.
They even alleged that the Nanyuki County legislature is colluding with their ‘rivals’ which is against the law.
Transport operations were paralysed for the better part of the day after the two factions clashed.
Passengers and motorists plying the Nyeri-Nanyuki highway were stranded for hours forcing them to look for alternative routes.
The Deputy County Commissioner of Nanyuki town later intervened and normal operations resumed.
