A number of tenants of Grafions Apartments in Ruaka Estate, Kiambu County are counting losses after they found their cars sunk inside a construction site on Wednesday morning.

Part of the apartment’s perimeter wall and parking lot caved in following a heavy downpour in the area on Tuesday.

The construction site, which is in between two occupied apartments, is believed to have caused the landslide.

The contractor is said to have dug deeper than the foundation of the wall, thus weakening it.

Photos taken from the scene show a number of damaged cars that were swept into the construction site.

The incident has forced some tenants to vacate the apartment over fears that the site might cause more damage.

Kenyans on social media have questioned how authorities allowed the developer to dig huge foundation next to the apartment blocks without proper reinforcements.
