Atleast 50,000 drivers in the country have lost their jobs since the introduction of the night travel ban to all Public Service Vehicle (PSV).
According to the Matatu Drivers and Conductors Welfare Association (Madcowa), the night travel ban has cost many drivers a living. Madcowa chair Samson Wainaina says the over 216 ,000 drivers countrywide have been affected directly or indirectly as result of the ban.
The Association says although it welcomes the government’s measures to reduce road accidents, a night travel ban will not end road carnage.
