Police in Dubai decide to add a 700 horsepower Mercedes G-Class SUV to their Fleet
Because the Dubai police are hell bent on amassing a supercar...
Riding on a Can-Am 450XC quad bike, SHAZAR Anwar emerged the overall winner of the Rally-Up Session III race at Imara Daima over the weekend. He beat Issa Amwari in his Mitsubishi EVO9 rally car contrary to all expectations.
Issa, who shared the rally car with Tariq Rashid had actually won the event outright but incurred a 30 seconds penalty for cutting the barrier tape thrice-thus dipping to second place. All in all, the Silverspread Rally Team driver (Amwari) gave spectators some awesome hair-raising thrills.
Shazana, daughter of three-time Kenya rally champion Azar Anwar, in a Daewoo rally car clocked 6.42minutes after the best of three heat runs to clinch the ladies’ category. She beat Caroline Gatimu in a pulsating ladies’ showdown. Gatimu, who has been out of action for the last few months, shared Sammy Nyorri’s 2WD Toyota Vitz- and lost to Shazana by a mere 5 seconds.
The quads class was purely explosive with sibling rivalry as five-time former Rally raid quad champion, Shazar eclipsed his younger brother Shabaz, drove the Polaris quad previously driven by the winner in the past Rally Raid events.
Tariq Rashid came in second in the EVO9 while the newly crowned 2WD champion Dennis Mwenda completed the podium in the main rally car class in his championship winning Toyota Sprinter GT. The event was organised by the International Christian Centre (ICC) at their Imara Daima Campus as a means of sensitising Kenyans on road safety.
