DRIVERS plying the Likoni- Lunga Lunga highway have been warned against drink driving. Likoni base commander Francis Kituma said the highway has experienced frequent accidents linked to drink driving.
He was speaking at the Diani Hotel on Saturday during a compliance and road safety forum organised by Frotcom East Africa Ltd. Kituma said many accidents on the highway are caused by drunk drivers in both public and private vehicles. “We will deploy more traffic officers with the breathalysers to end the high cases of drink driving,” he said.
Kituma was accompanied by Diani base commander John Olando and Msambweni subcounty administrator Hamisi Mwandaro. Kituma said a there is a need for drivers to adhere to traffic guidelines to avoid road accidents. “We warn motorists to desist from drink driving because it is dangerous,” he said.
Kituma said boda boda operators should get training before handling a motorcycle since some cause road accidents.
