Former MP Re-Arrested in Traffic Mobile Court

Former Keiyo North MP Lucas Chepkitonyi caused a scuffle in an Eldoret court when he attacked a journalist soon after being charged with traffic offenses. The former MP was re-arrested in the traffic mobile court after he attacked a journalist Peter Ochieng who was taking photographs.

Resident Magistrate Barnabas Kiptoo had fined Chepkitonyi Sh 20,000 for over speeding his car but while on his way out of the court he hit the camera in anger as he tried to stop the journalist from taking pictures.

Kiptoo ordered Chepkitonyi to be arrested and charged with contempt of court. He was pardoned because of his age but the magistrate warned the MP to be behave with respect before the public.

Chepkitonyi pleaded for forgiveness saying he had acted in anger.
