Unveiled to the delight of nerdy auto-journos that have descended upon Geneva en masse, Jaguar’s new hi-po wagon is the talk of the Swiss town. Being able to sprint from 0-62 mph in 4.8 seconds and reach speeds of up to 186 mph while bringing the family, the dog and a week’s worth of groceries along for the ride is every car guy’s dream. With the XFR-S Sportbrake, Jaguar has made that a reality. Under the hood lurks a 5.0-liter supercharged V8 that sends 542 hp and 502 lb-ft of torque to the rear wheels via an eight-speed auto.
The XFR-S Sportbrake comes with custom 20-inch Varuna alloys wrapped in bespoke Pirelli rubber, a new roof-mounted rear spoiler, and upgraded bumpers with carbon-fiber trim. Inside, Jaguar has upholstered the cabin in Warm Charcoal and carbon-effect leather, R-S logo embossed seats and Dark Aluminum trim, with pumping sounds coming via a 18-speaker Meridian sound system. The extra load in the back is managed by an upgraded rear suspension, while other chassis revisions include the tweaking of the adaptive damping, Dynamic Stability Control system and active electronic rear diff, as well as high-performance brakes.
