A police officer believed to be behind one of the most notorious car theft syndicates in the city has been arrested, TUKO.co.ke has learnt. The officer identified as Kelvin Ndosi was arrested on Saturday, October 13, after carjacking and robbing a motorist in the city.

According to a police statement seen by TUKO.co.ke, Ndosi, alongside three other civilians, hijacked one Philemon Ochieng Okelo in Athi River.

The four-man gang proceeded to drive to Kayole with the victim in his car where they called the victim’s wife and demanded KSh 300,000.

Police however intercepted the gang and arrested the officer who is stationed at the Central Police Station.

The officer was allegedly busted with a police pocket phone which is believed to be used in the car theft ploys, qualifying a report made by the victim earlier.

Unfortunately, the other suspects managed to flee, leaving the stolen car behind - a black Subaru with the registration KBP 464Z.
