Athi River sub-county police commander Samuel Mukuusi has urged businesses operating along Nairobi-Mombasa highway to install CCTV cameras on their premises.

Mukuusi noted that CCTV cameras will hep manage crime in the area, adding that the public should embrace crime protection through environmental design.

He made the remarks on Monday, where he is also confirmed the arrest of three suspects over robbery in Mlolongo.

The trio were caught by CCTV cameras breaking into vehicles at Gateway mall.

“Gateway Mall has CCTVs while other adjacent businesses do not have, let their owners install CCTV cameras to enhance security for both their customers and vehicles, said Mukuusi.

He urged members of the public to protect their vehicles, and avoid exposing their valuables such as electronics, cameras, laptops, clothing and other things while away from the car.

“Hide valuables in your vehicles, put them inside bags and place them on the vehicles’ floors to avoid luring burglars especially those with transparent windscreens and windows, he added.
