Jaguar’s upcoming Porsche Cayman fighter, the F-Type, and that it was all set to be powered by the automaker’s new 3.0-liter supercharged V6 with 380hp. This is a quad-cam engine that draws on key technology used in their current 5.0-liter V8.This sounded reasonable and if true it’d be a smart decision by Jaguar. Then again, the idea of a V8 under that long hood still sounds better.
Needless to say, we were a bit disappointed when those same reports mentioned that another available engine (likely for the base model) could be the 2.0-liter turbo four pot found in the Range Rover Evoque. Again, not the end of the world, but still.

Late last week, however, Inside Line reported that Jaguar will also be offering that 5.0-liter V8 that can produce as much as 542hp to buyers looking for that extra something special. Inside Line claims this information came to them via “a very reliable source”, but we’ll have to wait until the Paris Motor Show this September to know for sure.
