The speed governors being installed on vehicles are partly to blame for the rise of road accidents, Geoffrey Kimani an electrical technician expert has said.
Kimani said most of the speed governors in PSV vehicles are out dated. “Things have changed. There is new technology in place,” he said.
Speaking yesterday in Nakuru town, Kimani said most of the speed governors’ only works when a vehicle is climbing on an alpine area or on a flat terrain but not on a sloppy road.
He said most occur when the cars are being driven down a hill as the governors do not cut out power engine as required. “They cut out an engine power when a car is on a hill and flat area but not when it is coming down a hill,” he said. Kimani said the governors are also tampered with hence the need to import modern devices.
