An eyewitness who was driving behind the vehicle told the Nation at the scene that the speeding 2NK Sacco bus was attempting to overtake a Chania Special bus at the time of the accident.
Area residents who rushed to the scene in order to steal the rice were prevented from doing so by the officers from Emali and Sultan Hamud police stations.
