2014 Concours With Regulations

The Alfa Romeo Owners Club have made a flying start for the 2014 Africa Concours d’Elegance which will be held on Sunday September 28 at the Nairobi Racecourse. The regulations have already been approved by the Kenya Motor Sport Federation (KMSF) and have been published on the Concours website (www.concourskenya.com) and the Alfa Romeo Owners Club website (www.alfaromeoownersclubkenya.com).

The 2014 Concours will be the 44th in the annual series organised by the Alfa Romeo Owners Club and has earned the rating of the classiest event on the Kenya motor sport calendar. The timely publication of the regulations will help to attract car and motorcycle entries from outside Kenya. Printed copies will be ready for distribution in good time for the Premiere of the CBA Africa Concours d’Elegance TV programme.

The few changes in the regulations will be explained at the TV programme Premiere which will also provide an ideal opportunity for competitors to submit their entries. There will be a draw for lucky prizes at the Premiere for competitors who enter before, or at this social gathering.

Meanwhile the Alfa Romeo Owners Club are working closely with the organisers of the third annual Uganda Vintage and Classic Auto Show (Concours d’Elegance) which has been allocated the provisional date of Saturday July 5. It is hoped there will be a package deal for car competitors from Kenya.

The intention is to follow in the skid marks of motocross riders and rally drivers who regularly travel to Uganda to contest that country’s events. It is also hoped that Ugandan classic and vintage car enthusiasts will bring their machines to Nairobi for the Africa Concours d’Elegance.

By a coincidence last year’s (2013) Uganda Vintage and Classic Auto Show and the CBA Africa Concours d’Elegance were both won by 1928 Ford Model “A” cars. The top car in Kampala was prepared by Chipper Adams, a former motocross rider and rally driver. The first overall prize at the Nairobi Racecourse went to a vintage Ford prepared by Phoenix Aviation engineers working in their spare time.
