Mombasa Motor Club has been picked to organise the first event in the 2014 KCB Kenya National Rally Championship. The KNRC was initially scheduled to start in mid January with the Nakuru rally but stakeholders reached a general consensus that the initial date was too soon.

Kenya Commercial Bank will sponsor the 2014 championship as part of the three-year agreement with Kenya Motor Sports Federation signed last year. Mwaura Njuguna, the KMSF general manger said the revised calendar of events for 2014 will be finalised in due course.

During the board meeting, the Alfa Romeo Owners Club also presented Regulations for the 2014 Concours d’Elegance.

“Since we attract several car and motorcycle competitors from overseas, we have made it a tradition that we release the regulations well in advance for early perusal by prospective entrants,” said Bob Dewar, chairman of the Alfa Romeo Owners Club. This year’s Concours d’Elegance was won by a 1972 Ford Tudor entered by Phoenix Aviation.

The Awards ceremony which sets the mood and platform to the preceding season will fete the champion in various categories of motor racing including Baldev Chager in Rallying, Tejas Hirani in Rally Raid, Amit Pandya in Autocross, Tutu Maina and Ivan Guya in Motocross and Anthony Nielsen in Enduro among other champions.

Over and above, the awards event will also honour winners of Merit Awards which also include the motor personality of the year. Last year, the motor sports personality of the year award was won by Shivam Vinayak who was feted for his all round skills on motorcycles.
