After the spin-off of WRX and STI models from the Impreza platform, the latter will maintain the AWD system.
If you are a Subaru fan your heart probably skipped a beat when it was speculated that the next generation Impreza model is going to lose its AWD system. That piece of information followed Subaru’s decision to build the next generation WRX and STI models on a different platform than that of the Impreza. However Subaru officials are currently at the LA Auto Show, and they assured the media that future Subaru vehicles will maintain the tradition of AWD. That will be the case even though the next generation WRX and STI cars will have their own distinct platform. The new WRX and STI will probably omit the Imrpeza nameplate. The WRX and STI’s engines are expected to keep on using turbo chargers and produce over 300 hp.
