Installation and Synchronization of the Traffic Lights

The new digitized traffic lights will from next week take over control of traffic flow in the city.

The countdown traffic lights fitted with cameras will replace the 300 traffic officers deployed in the county to regulate road traffic.

Governor Evans Kidero, in a tweet on Wednesday, said full operation of the traffic lights will begin next week.

“Synchronization of the traffic lights should be complete in the coming week. Thank you,” said the tweet.

The 300 traffic marshals are currently being trained at a cost of Sh86 million, paid for by the World Bank.

The marshals will monitor motorists jumping traffic lights

Around 45 Closed Circuit TV cameras have already been installed throughout the county to help investigate accidents and enforce traffic laws.

Meanwhile, the county government has increased the charges of Yellow Fever shots from sh1500 to sh2000. This is inclusive of the certificate.
