The World’s Best Police Cars

A Lotus Evora S has a 3.5-litre V6 engine that produces 345bhp and 295 torques. It will accelerate from 0-62mph in 4.6 seconds and run on to a top speed of 178mph.

This, if you’re pondering the image above while considering a career holding up banks or hotwiring old Ford Capris, should give you cause for concern.

Sort of, anyway. You’re looking at a police-liveried Evora S, donated by the fine chaps over at Lotus to officers from Norfolk, Sussex, Essex, Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire and Cambridgeshire, to help spread the message that speeding, drink driving, not wearing a seatbelt, or driving while using a mobile phone simply isn’t cricket.

The idea is that an Evora S will engage younger drivers better than, say a diesel Astra, thus allowing the rozzers to deliver their important safety messages. And also look well cool, innit.

Though the Evora S is admittedly something of a publicity stunt and not a real police supercar, there are other really cool and really quite scary police supercars out there in the world, which we’ve rounded up for your perusal. Most are owned by the Dubai force. WARNING: this gallery contains a Vitara modified by Richard Hammond. Sorry.
